The Faceless is a community guild playing The Elder Scrolls Online on PC and Mac for the Daggerfall Covenant alliance. We aim to maintain a mature and respectful environment, all while enjoying ESO and each other's company. The information listed in this charter is meant to reinforce the ideology of our founders. Apply at http://the-faceless.com/login/do/register to join.
The rules of this guild are straightforward and roughly simplify to "thou shalt be a decent human being." Nevertheless, we have compiled a list of five central aspects of our community in which we expect a certain type of behavior out of our members.
1. General Social Code:
Respect is not only earned, but also goes both ways. Expressing disrespect to anybody in the guild, regardless of whether they are above or below your own rank, is grounds for punishment.
We will not tolerate abuses of power. All positions are meant to fill niche responsibilities, and do not signify any sort of infallibility whatsoever. Those who have been granted a high seat will be held to equally high standards, and any evidence of abused power will not be tolerated. Ranked members represent The Faceless, and nothing but maturity is expected from them.
If you have an issue with another member, try working it out with them civilly through private chat. If that can't be arranged, feel more than welcome to contact any guild officer.
2. External Affairs:
We want to be a respected, sought-after guild. Keeping this in mind, we do not want to steal members from other guilds or make any attempt at doing so. The leadership in this guild does not condone recruiting on other guilds' pages. If any member sees this happening, they are to report it to the guildmaster herself.
Likewise, try to remain cordial to other individuals and guilds, regardless of how they may act. We have a blacklist for a reason, and Zenimax included a player reporting function for the exact same purpose. Always resort to using these tools and other unobnoxious methods first.
3. Forum and Chat Etiquette:
We have a zero-tolerance policy on discrimination. Use good judgement, and if you can't rely on that, play things safe and keep it to yourself.
Profanity is not banned by any means, but keep it to a minimum. We're all mature and intelligent people here, so we won't be aghast at a bit of cursing. But that also means you should be wise enough to stay in check.
Insofar as links and pictures go, remember to keep them appropriate, as with all other content. Excessively spamming gifs or images is discouraged in public chat, as they can be distracting and may affect the chat module's functionality.
4. VoIP Rules:
Our official VoIP host is TeamSpeak 3. Visit https://www.teamspeak.com/downloads and find your OS client to download. Further assistance with joining our private server can be provided by members in the know.
Once again, be respectful. No derogatory comments of any kind to anybody in the guild. A little trash talk aimed at enemies is okay, but absolutely nothing directed at your allies.
Please use the channels as they are intended. We have labelled them with purpose, so join the AFK channel if you're going to be AFK.
5. Promotion Prerequisites:
There are a number of specific tasks that a member may complete or milestones that they may reach in order to be eligible for specific promotions. However, completing tasks or meeting milestones will mean nothing if you have not followed the previous four sections of this rulebook.
Be active. This guild is not one of those post-x-number-of-times-in-the-forum-for-this-promotion kind of guilds, so you will never find that here, but that doesn't mean you can inexplicably disappear for months at a time. Talk to members. Help them. Make yourself available, and, most importantly, make it known that you have ideas for and are dedicated to the guild's future!
Be able to communicate your ideas accurately. Perfect syntax isn't terribly important, but it certainly doesn't hurt.
Begging will not get you anywhere. Promotions will be awarded as leadership sees fit. Rather than pestering, please go through the proper channels by showing interest and proving your capabilities first.
History OOC: The Faceless was conceptually founded in December of 2012, and officially established one month later with the idea of operating behind the curtains in ESO gameplay. This philosophy continues to hold true in everything we do, from PvP and PvE to our intricate roleplaying side.
IC: An old myth may hold the key to the origin of The Faceless. Ask any guild member to learn more.
Rank Structure Guildmaster: Self-explanatory. She controls the final vote on all decisions.
Lieutenant: One of several top officers in our guild. Advises the guildmaster on important matters and oversees guild activities.
Sergeant: Possesses some limited oversight of guild operations in addition to leading and organizing members of lower rank. Is expected to be among the most active members of the guild.
Agent: A designated squad member who works under the supervision of a sergeant in guild-based PvP and PvE. Sergeants and other leaders may offer designations to agents who prove themselves highly active or proficient.
Charter Alteration Policies
The guild charter will be altered as we see fit. Any additions, omissions, or editing will be made known on the site's homepage.
